moving on..

||||||| Welcome again. Continuing from the previous blog, we now come to the various weapons used in the game. (I wish to state again that knowing these things used in the game will help you play the Game easily and that u'll also have fun when going through my blogs. :)

In this map, you have a choice of choosing from any of the following five classes:

1. Active scouts ,

2. Active Assault

3. Anti-Tank,

4. Active Medic and

5. Engineer.

(Weapons available with the AXIS)

Battlefield 1942 is not just a shoot them up kind of game, It also houses tact, teamplay , sniping and other capacities, which the player can use to his advantage.

Before selecting a point to spawn, choose the type of weapon you want and then choose the location where you would like to start playing again The two pictures are the actual snapshots of the weapons that you will be getting in the game. The menus have been precisely designed, that is, there is a difference in the weapons used by the actual teams.

You get to play either as a Scout, Assault soldier, Anti tank man, Medic or Engineer. The functionality of these various classes varies, in order to relish the game in its entirety, for this map, a brief understanding of the weapons used, would be a good idea.

1. Active Scouts: The Active scout carries a sniper rifle, a binocular, knife, a Colt .45 pistol, and three Grenades. The Sniper rifle is very useful if you want to snipe someone at a distance. The binocular helps the scout to see far of objects and this can be quite an advantage as he can keep his team informed about the enemy’s presence. The Colt .45 is useful only in close combat.

2. Active Assault: In Active Assault, the soldier is given an assault rifle or a machine gun. The Bar1918 gun is widely chosen, many players go for this class. This assault gun is good at attacking the enemy, in the sense that it has the capacity to bring down enemy soldiers, vehicles and aircraft, excepting tanks. The Assault class is also provided with a Colt .45 pistol, a knife, and three grenades. In the case of a Jap assault, the gun is a Stg 44.

3. Anti Tank: In active Tank the soldier carries the following: A Panzerschrek or a Bazooka, a knife, a Colt.45 pistol and three grenades. The Bazooka is used to effectively bring down Tanks and aircraft, but only if fired with accuracy. It does take some time to get used to the Bazooka.

the grenade can also be sometimes effective against tanks, but that again depends on the strength of the weapon which you set in the mod.

4. Active Medic: The Medic plays an important role; he carries a medical kit, A Thompson submachine gun, three grenades, a knife and a Colt.45pistol. The Medical kit can be used to heal him and his team mates. The Thompson gun is not as effective as the Assault gun bit it can be more precise and at close range is effective only against enemy soldiers. A Jap medic carries a Submachine gun which is more precise and effective against enemy soldiers.

5. Engineer: The Engineer has the capability to repair tanks, vehicles and aircraft. He is supplied with a wrench, mines, Exp packs, a rifle, and a Colt .45 pistol. By placing mines, the engineer can drastically reduce enemy attack. Although this class is sometimes overlooked, the engineer’s presence is required when a vehicles repair needs to be done during crucial game play.

At this point, I am sure that the info that I have provided to you is good enough to appreciate the nuances and the corners that the game has to offer., yet, the other thing that remains is the Radio operations which both the Japanese and American soldier is equipped with. I’ll cover this a bit later, Thank you very much for going through this blog,

I'll be seeing you later ,,,,

Slowly getting in ....

A warm welcome to you once again . As mentioned in my Start blog, I am an avid fan of Pc games, The game that I will be blogging about is Battlefield 1942 multiplayer. (Particularly the Wake Island map). The blogs are mainly about my experiences in the game, yes, the way my character went through the virtual battle. I would like to add that the blogs of mine are not exactly reviews, but I will be covering them in a decent and appreciable style. ;). I wish to convey info as a blog as not as an article. Before I proceed with the interesting nail biting action, I wish to give a small introduction to this game. Well for people who are new to it , Battlefield 1942 is a 3d World War II FPS computer game developed by Swedish company Digital Illusions CE and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows and the Apple Mac. Each battle takes place on one of s several maps located in a variety of places and famous battlefields in all of the major theaters of World War II: the Pacific, European, North African, Eastern , and Italian Fronts. Combat is always fought between the Axis Powers and the Allies. The location determines which nation-specific armies are used (for example, on the Wake Island map, it is Japan versus the United States, while on the Battle of Britain map, it is Germany versus the United Kingdom). The maps in Battlefield 1942 are based on real battles and are somewhat realistically portrayed. The game seems real while playing, but I feel it is not very realistic either, on the whole , decent looking graphics.
I am sure you will be waiting to get into the action right away, but I wish to convey the basic units used in the game, so that when you go through my descriptions, you will be having fun.

Welcome to the Wake Island map. The battle here is a digital recreation of the war fought in the Pacific front in World War II. The Wake island map is a very popular map that is currently being played. This map recreates digitally the war between the American and Japanese forces in the year 1942. ‘Wake Island’ is a corel atoll in the Pacific Ocean with a coastline of twelve miles, or nineteen kilometers. It is about 2/3rds of the way from Honolulu to Guam. (This is the real fact about Wake Island, info: Wikipedia).
The battle takes place between the ALLIES (USA) and AXIS (Japan) . You can choose to play either as an American soldier or as a Japanese war man. The player can choose any one of the following five roles: Scout, Assault, Anti-Tank, Medic, and Engineer. I’ll tell you more about these soldier types a bit later. On the Wake island, there are five different posts or positions. (or rather bases, as it is like to be called). They are:
(in the order of North to south):

• The village
• The North Base,
• The Airfield,
• The Landing beach, and
• The South base.

At the start of the game, each Team is assigned a number of tickets. A team wins when the opponent’s ticket count reaches zero. A team can do this either by killing the members of the opposing team , or by capturing bases. The bases are also known as ‘Control points’ on the map.
I would like to use the word ’Japs’ or ‘Americans’ instead of team. The Japanese forces can defeat the Americans by quickly holding all the control points on the map. The American forces can defeat the Japanese by gradually but steadily holding all the control points the island offers.
At the beginning of the game, enter your user name, rather ‘Game name’ as you would like to be called and then choose the server in which you would like to start playing.
After that, you are presented with the choice of either playing for the Japs or the US.
(in the example in the picture above (in the menu), I chose US).

(Pic #1)

There is another menu with a display of the various weapons available. You can either choose to play as a Scout, Assault, Anti Tank, Medic or Engineer. I’ll cover these types shortly, as the choices you make at this stage will determine to a large extent your experience in this game.
In the pic, you can see a map. Well, that’s the ‘Wake island’ map.
(I have put the map pic separately for your convenience).

(Pic #2)

I would again like to emphasize that knowing this game’s rules will definitely help the reader to have fun when going through my blogs. Yes, moving on, (I have explained the map in pic #3 (I’ve made the marking)

(Pic#3)

There are in all 5 control points by default in the game’s map. The map which I am showing you here is the original map(without mod) ,and is the most played by players. Any other maps, too, I will be covering in my later blogs.
Near the south base, you can see an arrow mark(with a blow arrow inside). Well, that is the player’s current position. That is your position when you’re playing the game. I was at the south base when I took this snapshot. ;)
The white circles with the flag indicate a Control point, and the Flag beside it indicates that either the Jap or American team has taken it. According to the sample map which I have put in pic #3, I can spawn in any of the Control points. I can only spawn as an American soldier (ALLIES). The Team’s flag will be next to the white circle, which means he/she can spawn there and play for his team. Whereas if you opt to play as a Jap soldier and try to spawn then search for the white circle near the Japanese flag to spawn and play.
Two squares with a small line indicate Tanks, the plane is shown by the ‘Plane icon’ and a smaller rectangle indicates the armored vehicle, and a still more smaller rect., indicates a jeep. The ALLIES team appears to the respective team members in Blue. That is all scouts, vehicles and planes appear in Blue on the map. In the case of the AXIS, the color is Red.

Thank you for reading., (but don’t go away yet), in the next blog I’ll be telling you about the weapons available and the type of soldier you can opt for while playing this map, so that we can get ahead with the hair raising action ..

A small introduction.

Dear people,

A warm and hearty welcome from my side. Im Aasish and I am glad to be a part of blogger.com. Well, about me, I have many interests, PC games occupying the topmost slot. I play both single mode and multiplayer. I have been interested in games for the personal computer, for many years, through my teen years. Till date, I have played more than 250 Pc games. I have also played the ATARI games way back then. The experience of playing a computer based game, is, well, something of an experience in itself. The interest in this sector , among the people, is slowly catching up.

In the coming blogs of mine, I would like to share my experience of playing Pc games, both off the internet and also multiplayer. This is well, I feel is more than a review, as I will be recounting the experiences as I saw it.(by taking time of course). You will able to find a totally new description of the games that I will be narrating to you. I' m sure the blogs will be engaging to you. It will be in detail too, but also simple enough that a newcomer to the game can read the blog and easily pick up the game and start playing. I will also be covering the various aspects the game has to offer, and also other things that might not be visible to other players.

Well then, let’s head straight to our zone ;) where you will feel entertained and informed. I wish anybody who goes through this blog a happy read. Thanks.
